Autonomous drones

Autonomous drones are able to provide reliable data with low effort, which applies to plenty of sectors. This is why the popularity of autonomous has been rising. This blog will explain more about the usage of an autonomous drone and how they can be used in real life.

Drones autonomous jobs

An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is often referred to as a drone. Drones can fly with a various amount of autonomy. These autonomous drones are drastically revolutionizing the agriculture and energy sector. Especially in these sectors, maintaining and monitoring the area of work can be very time consuming. Luckily, drones are capable of mapping and surveying these areas.

Mapping in agriculture can provide data which the farmer can use to use his workforce more efficiently, and increase yields. Ill crops will be recognized considerably faster using a drone which then can be treated properly. This will result in a considerable lower amount of dead crops. These sorts of drones are often equipped with a vision sensor optimized for identifying obstacles so drones will not crash during an autonomous flight. Furthermore, since drones have an aerial flight time of approximately one hour, they are capable of replacing their own battery. The drone will fly on a platform and then robotics will replace the battery. This allows the drone to keep on working without the owner needing to intervene at any point.

Drone video

Drones have already found its place in filming in recreational use. People are equipping their drone with a high quality camera to collect footage in astonishing areas. However, it has been taken to new heights by Liam Young. Liam Young has shot an entire film only using autonomous drones. The movie “In the robot skies” claims to be completely shot by pre-programmed drones. The film, which premiered in October at the London Film Festival, revolves around an age-old love story set in a near-future police state where the drones themselves play an integral role. The film is displaying an entire autonomous aerial infrastructure of surveillance drones which may represent something close to our future.

Aside from its initial programming, the drones were able to film the movie with minimal human interaction. So far, there has been no word of any more premieres or digital releases.
